How to make it

  • Bring the meat to room temperature.
  • Preheat the grill, preferably using Hickory or Mesquite wood charcoal.
  • Season beef with 2 large pinches sea salt, fresh cracked pepper, and Herbs de Province and mix with hands to combine evenly.
  • Form into 4 patties 3/4 to 1 inch thick patties.
  • Butter the buns and sprinkle with garlic powder. Set near the grill to allow butter to start melting into the bread.
  • Once the grill is very hot, put the burgers on, and sear (with the lid closed) for 2 minutes on each side.
  • Break up the charcoal to reduce the heat to medium/medium low, and grill the burgers for another 15 minutes, turning halfway through. (Cook longer for a more well-done burger.)
  • About 5 minutes before the burgers are done, place the buns butter side down until they are lightly toasted.
  • Build your burger to your liking and enjoy!
