Easy Calzone

- Pizza Dough: shopping list
- 1 envelope (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast OR 10 g fresh yeast shopping list
- 1 C water (105-110 F for active dry, cooler for fresh yeast) shopping list
- 2 1/4 cup of bread flour shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- canola oil shopping list
- Ingredients: shopping list
- spaghetti sauce shopping list
- smoked sausage (thinly sliced) shopping list
- garlic spread shopping list
- italian seasoning (about 2 tbsp) shopping list
- mushrooms (sliced) shopping list
- shredded cheese (what ever kind you like) shopping list
- onion (finely chopped or onion flakes) shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 375. Lightly grease a pizza pan to keep Calzone from sticking to bottom of pan.
- How to make it :
- Dissolve yeast in water.
- In a large mixing bowl, stir together 2 1/4 C flour and salt.
- Add yeast mixture and stir until smooth. Let the dough rest 10 minutes.
- Knead the dough with floured hands until the dough becomes elastic and smooth, approximately 3 minutes. If the dough is too sticky to work, gradually work in flour until it is no longer tacky. It will be softer than most pizza doughs, so resist the urge to add too much flour.
- Divide the dough into 2 balls. (Each will make 4 Calzones)
- Coat each ball with a bit of canola oil, place each into two small plastic bowls and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise for about 1 hour . (until double in size)
- Take each ball of dough and roll out a triangular shape about "1/8" thick on to a lightly floured surface.
- Toppings:
- Add your spaghetti sauce and the rest of the ingredients to your dough. ( only on 1/2 of the dough) Fold each piece of dough in half and pinch the ends of the dough so that all ingredients are sealed. Melt 3 tablespoons of garlic spread and baste the top of the dough with the garlic spread.Sprinkle Italian seasoning over the top. Place in oven and cook for
- about 20 to 25 min. or until lightly golden brown.
