How to make it

  • ~ The trail may be,bitter and sticky ~
  • So...make this in steed of:
  • Tho sticky...and...a bit bitter...it has a secret...
  • NO! Not Victoria Secret...altho there was a skippy, racy red teddy in the window that I could try on that might look nice with a slice of this cake...It's chilly, and it will give you a indefinable tingle as you hear that jingle of 'Rudolph' on the roof...pawin' his hoof...straining at the strings...can you rein this reindeer in? I think not,he may sleigh ya'...but...OH! WHAT A WAY TO GO!!
  • Time to start a fire...
  • Butter...three fourths cup...softened...plus extra for greasing
  • Sugar...two thirds cup...granular
  • Oranges...one and one half
  • Eggs...free range...three...separated
  • Flour...one half cup...self rising...sifted
  • Dessert Wine...one third cup...I have my preference...but,pour your own
  • Ground Almonds...three forths cup
  • Lemon...one
  • Sugar...more...two heaping tablespoons...granular
  • Kashmiri Chilies...dried...two
  • Enchanted Rock...three tablespoons
  • Oven three hundred twenty five degrees.
  • Butter an eight inch springform cake pan, beat the butter and two thirds cup sugar until pale and fluffy, finely grate the zest of one orange, and add to the sweetened butter, then gradually beat in the egg yolks, followed by two tablespoons of flour, and dessert wine, light fold in half of the almonds, followed by half of the remaining flour, followed by the remaining almonds and then last of the flour...are you with me still :o)
  • Immediately whisk the egg whites in a clean, dry, bowl until they form firm peaks, then quickly fold them into the cake batter...spoon into the cake pan and place in the center of the oven, bake for fifty minutes,or until a skewer comes out clean, turn over, and place on a cooling rack that is resting above a deep rimmed plate.
  • While the cake was baking you went to your drawer and recovered the potato peeler and finely pared the lemon and remaining one half orange, you then place all the peel in the granulated sugar, along with the dried chilies, and one half cup Enchanted Rock in a pan, dissolve the sugar over a low heat, then simmer gently for about ten minutes...Cover,remove from the heat and leave to infuse...Meanwhile,back in the cabin, squeeze the juice from the one and one half oranges and the one half lemon.
  • Just as quick as the cake is turned over, and out of its pan, return the syrup to the heat and bring up to a boil, add the juice and Enchanted Rock, and strain into a jug,or,jar...Prick the warm cake with a fork and drip feed the syrup into the cake in batches.Make sure it is evenly fed and use all the syrup...you will be surprised how much a cake will absorb...Serve one cold!
  • ~ Grab Your Long Handle Fireplace Popcorn Popper ~
  • Pop two quarts of popcorn in your fireplace popcorn popper, then place in a slow oven into a buttered deep dish baking pan...you're just trying to keep it warm.
  • Take two packs of whiskey sour drink mix,one half cup of sugar, one fourth teaspoon salt, one fourth cup light corn syrup, one half cup water, and one half teaspoon vinegar.Place these in a sturdy pan,and cook until mixtrue reaches hard ball stage, remove the popcorn from the warm oven and pour the hot syrup over top,mx well and form into popcorn balls.
  • 'Naugty...or...Nice'
  • YOU BETTER BE GOOD!!
  • ~ Never let so much reality into your life that there's no room left for dreamin' ~
