Ingredients

How to make it

  • Sear the steaks, reduce the heat and cook them through...lay them aside to rest allowing the juices to return to the center as you make the sauce.
  • Deglaze the pan with some bourbon and a sprig of rosemary and a nob of butter to finish, drizzle the sauce over the steak, and serve alongside the baked potato with crème fraîche, and bacon, and a fresh green salad.
  • Dessert...Single Malt Scotch...Just a 'tot' mind you.
  • ~ On The Slopes ~
  • There was a blanket of grey that covered the day...but that would not deter from their play.
  • The day was long and exhilarating, and they stayed long enough to watch the reddish sun reach the zenith and start to drink up the shadows that divided the snow cap from the silver.
  • Was it the call of the mountain,or,what layed before them in that quaint little three story cabin?
  • He was quite aware of the storm of mind and memory in his past...
  • but, he relied with a certainty on her company and that after the snow puffies, and powder shots were seen and met and the mountain shred, that the mind would take on a lassitude and they could just sit back and recoup after a day of play on the slopes, enjoying the noshes, blazing fire, the music drifting in the air,the wine sweet, tepid and slightly corked.
  • He beckoned her with a double pat of his hand on the worn cabin couch cushion to come and keep him company.
  • Her hands pumelled at her hurting quadriceps...her feet and ankles hurt, her gluteus maximus hurt, her hamstrings felt unstrung...
  • so,his invitation was accepted with gratitude as she sunk down into the soft leather that seemed to fit her like a glove.
  • The fireplace cracked and popped in front of them. She loved the warmth of it,and the warmth of his friendship.
  • As he leaned back with a arm resting over her shoulders,he was kind enough to say that he thought that she was starting to perfect her technique on the piste that day.She laughed and said,"You mean you are just happy I didn't shake hands with that tree that I barely missed." and with a smile he said,"You know what? You still have the sun kissed glow on your cheeks."
  • They fought the forge of frozen snow cracking underfoot all day,the fire was melting the icicles, both inside and out.He felt it too as he raised to retrieve a mug of hot chocolate poured from the kettle resting near the heat of the hearth.
  • As he craddled it in her hands,he again sat down beside her and lifted one foot into his lap.The hiss of the snow and the glittering infinity of space was gone...there were just them two.
