Baked Apple Stuffed French Toast

- Pam cooking spray shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 cup butter, melted shopping list
- 1 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 1 loaf Orowheat Potato bread shopping list
- 2_2 1/2 baking apples (I used Honey Crisp) shopping list
- 6 eggs shopping list
- 1 3/4 cup milk shopping list
- 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 1 tsp ground ginger shopping list
- 1 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla extract shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Spray 9x13 pan with Pam
- Peel, seed and thinly slice the apples and set aside.
- In a saucepan melt the butter and brown sugar
- Pour sugar mixture in 9x13 pan and spread in bottom evenly
- Combine eggs, milk, salt, 1 tsp cinnamon and ginger in a mixing bowl and whisk together well.
- Place one layer of potato bread in bottom of pan. You may need to cut slices to fit.
- Pour half of milk mixture over bread and top with apple slices.
- Top apple slices by sprinkling with 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon.
- Top apple with another layer of potato bread and pour the remaining egg mixture over top evenly. Press gently with a spatula to ensure egg mixture soaks evenly.
- Wrap with aluminum foil and refrigerate overnight.
- Bake at 350 for 45 minutes covered and unwrapped and bake uncovered until golden brown. 15-20 minutes.
- Alternately this may be filled with thinly sliced ham, Swiss cheese and strawberry jam for a Monte Cristo Bake.
