Aunt Stella's Poor Man's Pound Cake

My mom made this cake for every gathering that I can remember. It's an old recipe and is a sweet pound-like cake made without butter thus the "poor man's" title. Ingredients
- 3 c. all-purpose flour shopping list
- 3 c. white sugar shopping list
- 3 tsp. baking powder shopping list
- 1 c. whole milk shopping list
- 1 1/2 c. shortening shopping list
- 6 eggs shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract shopping list
- 1/2 c. finely crushed walnuts (optional) shopping list
How to make it
- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- 2. Mix all ingredients in 1 bowl and beat for 5 minutes until well mixed.
- 3. Pour batter into a non-stick tube pan.
- 4. Bake 1 hour and 10 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
- 5. Cool cake on cooling rack then flip out of pan.
