How to make it

  • Rinse and soak peas, drain. Place in large pot with ham bone and water to cover. Simmer 3 hours. Add onion, carrots, and celery. Simmer, covered 1 hour. Remove vegs. Chill and remove fat. Add hot dogs, milk, bouillon, and butter. Stir until soup boils, then season. Simmer gently, stirring occasionally, for 20 min. Turn heat to high and boil, stirring constantly for 15 min.
