How to make it

  • 1. Preheat oven to 175c | 350° F. Line a 9 inch cast iron skillet or a pie dish with baking/parchment paper.
  • 2. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, butter, and vanilla. Then whisk until light and creamy. Add the egg and whisk again until the ingredients are completely combined.
  • 3. Add the flour, baking soda and salt, and mix the dry ingredients into the wet until just combined.
  • 4. Incorporate in half the chocolate chips and spoon ½ the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • 5. Melt the nutella over stove top in a heat-proof mini bowl over a pot of boiling water until it becomes thin.
  • 6. Pour the Nutella over the cookie dough in the skillet evenly. Top with remaining cookie dough, smoothing the layer with the back of a metal spoon.
  • 7. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top. Optional: you can add 2 tbsp of pecans sprinkled along with the chocolate chips.
  • 8. For a gooey cookie, bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes (depending on your oven). For a set cookie, after the thirty minutes, cover with aluminum foil and bake for 10 more minutes.
  • 9. Let the cookie cool down for about ten minutes and you're ready to go!
