How to make it

  • Mix all ingredients together in crock of a slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 3 hours. Discard Bayleaf before serving.

  • Directions for StoveTop:
  • 1. In medium sized pot sauté minced onion and garlic in about 2 T. olive oil till soft on medium heat.
  • 2. Add basil, oregano, thyme, and pepper, stir to mix ingredients.
  • 3. Add diced celery, carrots, and diced tomato, stir and cook about 5 minutes to sweat vegetables.
  • 4. Add chicken broth, water, bay leaf, and lentils, stir to mix ingredients.
  • 5. Bring to low boil then reduce heat and simmer till lentils are tender about 30 minutes.
  • 6. Add diced ham, cover pot, and let rest on warm so ham heats through.
