Easy Drop Doughnuts

- • 2 cups sifted flour. shopping list
- • 1⁄3 cup sugar. shopping list
- • 3 tsp. baking powder. shopping list
- • 1 tsp. baking soda. shopping list
- • 1 tsp. salt. shopping list
- • 1 tsp. nutmeg. shopping list
- • 2 tsps. vanilla. shopping list
- • 1 large egg, slightly beaten. shopping list
- • 3⁄4 cup luke warm milk. Can be at room temp but not cold. shopping list
- • 3 Tbs. oil. shopping list
- • Additional oil (for frying). shopping list
How to make it
- 1. Sift together dry ingredients, mix well.
- 2. Mix together wet ingredients and incorporate into dry. Stir until smooth. You can adjust the batter at this point. Different day, different flour, different humidity = different batter. The batter should be stiff but moist and not almost dough.
- 3. Drop by the teaspoon full (no bigger) into hot oil, 360-365 F. (182-185 C.) is good; turning after a few moments until golden brown on all sides.
- 4. Remove and drain. Serve.
- You can roll these in confectionery sugar while still warm or get creative. Dip warm doughnuts in chocolate sauce or chocolate or vanilla glaze, etc.
