How to make it

  • In a saucepan, combine sugar and cornstarch. Stir in cranberry juice, vinegar, and soy sauce. Bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 1 to 2 minutes or until thickened. On skewers, thread sausage, apples and peppers. Grill, uncovered, over indirect heat for 8 minutes or until heated through, turning and brushing with glaze occasionally.

    We enjoyed this. Since the kielbasa is already cooked, you're really just caramelizing the apples and other additions you make. I added some onion wedges and broiled this 6" from the broiler for 12 minutes. It could have used another 2-3 minutes, but was good.
    Changes I'll make for next time: We ran a little short on sauce. Next time I'll add 1 cup cranberry juice and throw in a few cranberries for a more intense flavor, maybe a bit of citrus. Also, I'll cube the apples so they'll cook more evenly. Cubed pineapple or possibly mushrooms would make a nice addition. I used both the red and green bell pepper, but one would probably be enough unless you just happen to have both red and green bell peppers.
