Ingredients
  • ¼ cup raisins
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1¼ cup oatmeal
  • ½ Tablespoon grated lemon rind
  • ¼ cup melted shortening
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1/3 molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 Tablespoon milk

Directions
  1. Wash raisins and drain. Mix and sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Combine the sugar, molasses, beaten egg and milk with shortening and mix well. Add flour and oatmeal gradually. Add raisins and grated lemon rind.
  2. Drop from a teaspoon on greased cookie sheets in moderate oven at 375° F for 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 3 dozen.
