How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees (f).
  • 1. Mix oats, flours, and baking soda together in a bowl.
  • 2. Cut in butter and/or shortening working fat(s) into oat mix well by rubbing with your fingers.
  • 3. Add cold water and mix well.
  • 4. Turn out onto cutting board and press mix together rolling dough out to 1/4" thickness. If sides split press/push together.
  • 5. Cut into pieces approximately 2" x 2.5" or there about.
  • 6. Bake on parchment lined baking sheet until golden and firm about 25 minutes. Turn oven off and let cool with door partially open.
  • 7. Cool completely. Eat and enjoy!
  • *This is an ideal small batch size that can bake in a toaster oven.
  • *There is no need to add sugar to the recipe when using flavored instant oats. Any flavor is delicious.
