Twisted Black Eyed Peas

The best back eyed pea dish you’ll ever experience! I always have to double it.
Ingredients
- Every time I post pics of this dish I get requests for the recipe so here it is again. It’s amazingly delicious yall! I ALWAYS have to double it so here is the doubles recipe. shopping list
- TWISTED BLACK EYED PEAS shopping list
- 4 cans black eyed peas, rinsed and drained shopping list
- 2 cans (14.5 oz each) diced tomatoes, do not drain shopping list
- 2 cans (14.5 oz each) diced tomatoes w/green chilies, do not drain shopping list
- 2 lbs bacon( I LOVE bacon), cut small shopping list
- 2 lbs ground pork shopping list
- 2 med onions shopping list
- 2 stalk celery shopping list
- 2 cups water shopping list
- 4 tbsp brown sugar shopping list
- 2 tsp each of garlic powder and chili powder shopping list
How to make it
- In a large pan, fry bacon. Add pork sausage when bacon is 3/4 done.
- While meat is cooking, empty the canned pease and tomatoes into a Dutch oven.
- When the meat is done, remove it and add to the pot of pease and tomatoes.
- Fry the onion and celery in the meat drippings.
- Cool until celery is soft.
- While onion mix is frying, add to the pot of beans the garlic 🧄, chili 🌶 powder, and brown sugar.
- Add in the onion 🧅 and celery.
- Pour in the water.
- Turn on med heat and slow boil for 1 hr.
- GREAT WITH CORNBREAD!!!!
