How to make it

  • Prep the avocados: Cut the avocados in half lengthwise, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a medium bowl.
  • Using a fork or a potato masher, mash the avocados to your desired consistency.
  • Stir in the diced red onion, minced jalapeño, and chopped cilantro.
  • If you're using cumin, or garlic powder, add them now and stir well.
  • Squeeze the lime juice over the avocado mixture. Start with the juice of one lime and add more to taste.
  • Season with salt: Add salt to taste. Start with a pinch and adjust from there.
  • Give a taste and adjust the seasonings as needed. You might want more lime juice for tang, more salt to bring out the flavors, or more jalapeño for heat.
