Baked Pasta

- 1 jar pasta sauce shopping list
- 1 (4 oz.) can sliced mushrooms (or more if you really like mushrooms) shopping list
- 1 medium onion, diced shopping list
- 1 -2 medium zuchinni, halved and sliced shopping list
- 1 pound ground beef (or turkey) shopping list
- 1 pound italian sausage (mild or hot) shopping list
- red pepper flakes, to taste shopping list
- italian seasoning shopping list
- salt, pepper and garlic powder shopping list
- 1 pound package pasta such as ziti or rigatoni shopping list
- mozzarella cheese shopping list
- Cottage or ricotta cheese shopping list
- parmesan cheese shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage, breaking up the meat into small pieces. Season with Italian seasoning, pepper, garlic powder and a small amount of salt. When done, drain off the fat and return meat to the skillet.
- Add the onion, zuchinni and mushrooms and cook until soft. Season with red pepper flakes.
- Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions; drain.
- When vegetables are soft, add the pasta and pasta sauce; mix to combine.
- Place about half of the pasta mixture in a 9 X 13-inch pan. Layer the cottage cheese and Parmesan cheese, and then cover with the remaining pasta mixture.
- Top with mozzarella cheese and more Parmesan, if desired.
- Pop in the oven for about 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the dish is heated through.
- Let rest about 10 minutes before serving.
- Round out the meal with a green salad.
