Grandmas Brownies Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup shortening (Crisco)

1 & 1/2 cups flour

1 & 1/2 tsp salt

2 cups sugar

2 cups nuts

4 oz. unsweetened chocolate

1 tsp baking powder

4 eggs

2 tsp vanilla

Directions

Melt shortening and chocolate. Beat eggs. Add sugar, then chocolate mixture and blend. Add dry ingredients, vanilla and nuts.

Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13" pan. Bake @ 350 for 35 min. Test with toothpick for doneness.

This is similar to one I used to make as a child when I was just learning to bake and it was a wonderful brownie. I would recommend letting the chocolate mixture cool a bit before adding it to the eggs, however.
