Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons red chile powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/8 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 1/2 cups boiling water
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

Directions
  1. Put red chile powder, salt, cumin, oregano, onion powder and minced garlic in a medium sized bowl.
  2. Pour boiling water over mixture, stir well and set aside.
  3. In a 2 quart saucepan, brown the flour in the cooking oil over medium heat, being careful not to scorch.
  4. Stir in chile powder mixture and bring to a boil.
  5. Lower heat and simmer 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently.
  6. Makes about 3 cups.
