How to make it

  • Put red chile powder, salt, cumin, oregano, onion powder and minced garlic in a medium sized bowl.
  • Pour boiling water over mixture, stir well and set aside.
  • In a 2 quart saucepan, brown the flour in the cooking oil over medium heat, being careful not to scorch.
  • Stir in chile powder mixture and bring to a boil.
  • Lower heat and simmer 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • Makes about 3 cups.
