Chili con Carne

- 1 tbsp oil shopping list
- 2 onions, diced shopping list
- 3 cloves garlic, minced shopping list
- 1 lb ground meat shopping list
- ¾ pound beef sirloin, cubed shopping list
- 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes shopping list
- 4 oz of dark beer shopping list
- ¾ c brewed coffee shopping list
- 2 6 oz cans tomato paste shopping list
- 1 14 oz can of beef broth or chicken broth shopping list
- ¼ c packed brown sugar (adjust to taste) shopping list
- 5 tbsp chili powder (adjust to taste) shopping list
- 1 tbsp cumin shopping list
- 1 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder shopping list
- 1 tsp dried oregano shopping list
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper shopping list
- 1 tsp ground coriander shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 4 15 ounce cans kidney beans shopping list
How to make it
- Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook onions, garlic, ground meat and sirloin in oil until the meat is browned. Drain the excess fat.
- Mix in the diced tomatoes with juice, dark beer, coffee, tomato paste and broth. Season with brown sugar, chili powder, cumin, cocoa powder, oregano, cayenne pepper, coriander and salt.
- Stir in 2 cans of beans. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 1 ½ hours.
- Stir in remaining 2 cans of beans, and simmer for another 30 minutes
