Chocolate Cake

- Cake: shopping list
- 200g plain flour shopping list
- 200g caster sugar shopping list
- 1tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1/2tsp bicarbonate of soda shopping list
- 40g cocoa powder (good quality) shopping list
- 175g unsalted butter (softened) shopping list
- 2 large eggs shopping list
- 150ml sour cream shopping list
- Icing: shopping list
- 45g unsalted butter shopping list
- 100g dark chocolate (good quality) shopping list
- 180g icing sugar shopping list
- 1/2tbsp golden syrup shopping list
- 75ml sour cream shopping list
- splash vanilla extract shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 180C.
- Combine cake ingredients in food processor and blend smooth.
- Split mixture into two buttered 20cm cake tins with removable bases.
- Bake for 25 mins.
- For icing, melt butter and chocolate together over boiling water.
- Add golden syrup, sour cream and vanilla extract to this mixture.
- Blitz icing sugar in food processor and slowly add hot mixture.
- Add water or icing sugar to tune icing consistency.
- Build cake.
