Curried Mince Roly Poly

- Filling: shopping list
- 15 ml oil shopping list
- 1 onion, chopped shopping list
- 1 clove garlic, crushed shopping list
- 15 ml medium curry powder shopping list
- 5 ml turmeric shopping list
- 1 carrot, chopped shopping list
- 1 Granny Smith apple, chopped shopping list
- 15 ml vinegar shopping list
- 15 ml chutney shopping list
- 500 g lean beef mince shopping list
- salt and pepper to taste shopping list
- Pastry: shopping list
- 500 ml flour shopping list
- 125 g butter or margarine shopping list
- 5 ml salt shopping list
- 100 – 125 ml ice cold water shopping list
- Sauce: shopping list
- 1 onion, chopped shopping list
- 1 Granny Smith apple, chopped shopping list
- 1 carrot, chopped shopping list
- 1 clove garlic, crushed shopping list
- 15 ml oil shopping list
- 5 ml medium curry powder shopping list
- 5 ml turmeric shopping list
- 250 ml beef stock shopping list
- 15 ml chutney shopping list
- 10 ml lemon juice shopping list
- salt to taste shopping list
How to make it
- Filling
- Sauté onion and garlic in oil until soft. Add curry powder and sauté 2 minutes.
- Add mince and stir until well mixed with curry mixture. Add remaining
- Ingredients and simmer for 20 minutes. The mixture must be dry. Cool.
- Pastry
- Sift dry ingredients. Rub in butter then add enough water to make stiff dough.
- Chill for 30 minutes. Roll out to about 10 mm thick into a rectangle. Spread with the filling the roll up like a Swiss Roll. Seal edges with beaten egg. Place in a greased oven proof serving dish and brush the top with beaten egg.
- Sauté onion, apple, carrot and garlic in oil. Add curry powder and turmeric and fry 2 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and simmer 10 minutes. Pour around the roll in serving dish and bake for 30 – 40 minutes at 180o C.
