Thanksgiving Turkey Unstuffed Recipe

Thanksgiving Turkey Unstuffed Recipe
This is my Father-In-Law's recipe for Thanksgiving Turkey. It's quite simple and every year I do this, the bird always comes out juicy, tender and a nice shade of brown.

Ingredients
  • 1 stick of butter
  • Onion salt
  • Pepper
  • Turkey

Directions
  1. Thaw 1 week before using. Rinse with water and remove insides.
  2. Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Melt 1 stick of butter on stovetop. Brush melted butter onto bird and dash onion salt and pepper on top. Take aluminum foil and make a tent (make sure not to touch the bird), folding the 2 sides of tent onto pan. Place in oven for 15 minutes, then reduce temperature to 325F degrees.
  3. Cook (unstuffed) 4 to 4 1/2 hours. Check it every hour, basting it. With 1 hour to go, check it more often, observing temperature and color.
  4. With 30 minutes to go, remove tent.
  5. Temperature depends on size of bird, check instructions that come with it. I always use Butterball Turkeys.
