Pear Pie

- 8 cups pears (less if they're large pears), peeled, cored and cut into 1/2s or 1/3rds shopping list
- 1 tsp lemon juice shopping list
- 1 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 1 tsp cinnamon shopping list
- 1 tbsp corn starch shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 1 9'' deep pie crust shopping list
- Topping: shopping list
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar shopping list
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter (softened) shopping list
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs shopping list
How to make it
- Toss the pears with lemon juice
- Combine all the other ingredients (except the crust) and pour the mixture on top of the pears and toss to coat. Pour into a baking dish and cook for 15 minutes at 400 degrees until thick and bubbly and pears are tender. Remove.
- Bake the pie crust until its slightly golden.
- Mix the topping ingredients until crumbly
- Add the fruit to the crust and cover with topping. (Side note: There will be a lot of juice when you bake the pears, but don't put all of it in the crust or it'll be way too watery)
- Return to oven for 7 minutes until the crumbles are golden
