Ingredients

How to make it

  • Toss the pears with lemon juice
  • Combine all the other ingredients (except the crust) and pour the mixture on top of the pears and toss to coat. Pour into a baking dish and cook for 15 minutes at 400 degrees until thick and bubbly and pears are tender. Remove.
  • Bake the pie crust until its slightly golden.
  • Mix the topping ingredients until crumbly
  • Add the fruit to the crust and cover with topping. (Side note: There will be a lot of juice when you bake the pears, but don't put all of it in the crust or it'll be way too watery)
  • Return to oven for 7 minutes until the crumbles are golden

Good idea to pre-cook the pears. That should work with apple pie, too, shouldn't it? I don't like pies with crunchy fruit. It seems a shame to waste the extra juice from the baking process; couldn't a thickener be added?
