Date Flip Cake Recipe
Super moist date flip cake even delights those who don't like dates! Easy to make for dessert or with ice cream.

Ingredients
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1/2 cup shortening or margarine
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • Your favorite pancake recipe or use the Bisquick Mix recipe.

Directions
  1. Boil together the brown sugar, orange zest and shortening until hot. Mix up your favorite pancake recipe (using whatever recommended liquid,) add the chopped dates and stir until smooth.
  2. Pour pancake batter in a greased 9" x 12" cakepan. Slowly pour the hot brown sugar mixture over the batter mix.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes.
  4. Cut into 6 squares while still warm and serve by flipping upside down on dessert plate.
  5. Batter and brown sugar mixture will switch from top to bottom.
  6. Serve with whipping cream, or our favorite, half and half.
