  • In large bowl,beat eggs,sugar,corn syrup,vanilla and butter.Stir in pecans.Pour into unbaked pie shell.Bake in preheated 350 degress oven 45 to 60 minutes or until knife inserted halfway between outside and center comes out clean.Cool on wire rack.Tip: I would check the pie for doness after it bakes 45 minutes and go from there on cooking it.

    Try one cup dark Karo, 1/2 cup sugar...add a tablespoon or two of melted butter before pouring into the shell. Use middle oven rack...have a rack above it, and place a cake tin with about a cup of water in it. This will prevent the crust on this long-baking pie from getting too brown. Works every time. Reducing the amount of sugar keeps the pie from being too very sweet,sweet. Yum!
