Black Bean Burgers Recipe
Spiced up mashed black bean burger, coated in crumbs and fried in a little oil. Put them on a bun with lettuce, pickles, onions and maybe a slice or two of avocado and enjoy the fat free burger. Spice it up or down as you like.

Ingredients
  • 1, 15 ounce can black beans, drained ( \save the liquid till you know you won't need it)
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion, sauteed in olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, mashed, sauteeed with onion
  • 2 teaspoons soy or teriyaki sauce
  • 1 to 2 tablespoon canned chili peppers, minced and drained or substitute a pinch of ground cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • Pinch ground black pepper
  • Extra bread crumbs for breading patties
  • Oil for frying - olive is possible
  • Suggested condiments: any or all.
  • Sliced tomato
  • Lettuce
  • Thinly sliced sweet onion
  • Sliced avocado
  • Sliced dill pickle
  • Sliced bread and butter pickle

Directions
  1. Saute chopped onion, garlic and chili peppers in a small amount of olive oil.
  2. Drain black beans and mash well.
  3. Add sauteed onions, garlic and peppers to the mashed beans.
  4. Add the soy sauce and bread crumbs. Mix together.
  5. Form into 2 patties.
  6. Dredge in more Italian bread crumbs or Panko crumbs.
  7. Fry in small amount of olive oil, turning when the crumbs have browned a small bit.
  8. Put on bun, add condiments.
