How to make it

  • Prepare cake pans by spraying with Bakers Joy.
  • Cream margarine, Crisco and sugar. Beat until smooth.
  • Add egg yolks and beat until well blended.
  • Combine flour and soda; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
  • Add flavoring, nuts and coconut.
  • Gently fold in beaten egg whites.
  • Bake at 350 deg. for 20 min. for layers or 40 min. for sheet cake or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean.
  • Makes (3) 8 or 9-in. layers or one 9 x 13 sheet.
  • When cake has cooled - Beat together icing ingredients and spread on cooled cake.
