Italian Creme Cake

- 1 stick margarine shopping list
- 1/2 c. Crisco shopping list
- 2 c. sugar shopping list
- 5 egg yolks shopping list
- 5 egg whites, beaten stiff shopping list
- 2 c. cake flour shopping list
- 1 tsp. baking soda shopping list
- 1 c. buttermilk shopping list
- 1 tsp. vanilla shopping list
- 1 c. coconut shopping list
- 1 c. chopped pecans shopping list
- Icing: shopping list
- 8 oz. cream cheese, softened shopping list
- 1/2 stick margarine, softened shopping list
- 1 box 10-x powdered sugar shopping list
- 1 c. coconut shopping list
- 1 c. chopped pecans shopping list
How to make it
- Prepare cake pans by spraying with Bakers Joy.
- Cream margarine, Crisco and sugar. Beat until smooth.
- Add egg yolks and beat until well blended.
- Combine flour and soda; add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.
- Add flavoring, nuts and coconut.
- Gently fold in beaten egg whites.
- Bake at 350 deg. for 20 min. for layers or 40 min. for sheet cake or until toothpick inserted in middle comes out clean.
- Makes (3) 8 or 9-in. layers or one 9 x 13 sheet.
- When cake has cooled - Beat together icing ingredients and spread on cooled cake.
