How to make it

  • In large bowl, beat butter until smooth. Add sugar, beating until fluffy. Stir in vanilla, then add flour. Mix in oatmeal. Chill in refrigerator until firm.
  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Shape dough into marble-sized balls and place on cookie sheets. Flatten each cookie with the bottom of a drinking glass dipped into granulated sugar. Dip glass into sugar between each cookie to re-sugar glass. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until cookies are just set. Do not brown! Cool on cookie sheets for about a minute, then remove to wire racks to cool.
