Nice rich black sauce for hot meats

Ingredients
  • 2 X 1kg tins treacle
  • 2 litre malt vinegar or (half a gallon)
  • 1 tbsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 25 g or 1 oz chopped garlic (or more if liked)
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions
  1. Boil together for 1/2 an hour
  2. Mix 1/2 cup flour with a little vinegar.
  3. Add to hot mixture, (take off the heat while stirring in)
  4. Bring back to boil for a few minutes.
  5. Bottle in sterilized bottles and leave for 6 weeks
  6. Can use before this but is nice to leave for flavors to mature.
