How to make it

  • After chicken has been cleaned and cut add to a heated stock pot and cook until no longer pink, I usually add garlic if I have it on hand.
  • Remove chicken and add desired vegetables, cook until onions are translucent.
  • Place chicken back into the pot and add chicken broth and canned soups.
  • Let simmer, covered for 45 minutes.
  • Add dumplings of your choice and simmer covered for 15 minutes longer.

    Take away the chicken broth and you've got the makings of yummy, homemade, chicken pot pie! Just go get you some frozen, deep-dish pie shells, mix then add your ingredients in the bottom shell (pricks with fork first), then top with second shell, cutting out some spots at the top to allow for steam, but crimp sides together. Warm it up in the oven, and you're ready to go!

    I can't wait to try your chicken and dumpling recipe. It sounds scrumptious!
