How to make it

  • - In large kettle, melt butter, add onions, garlic and sprinkle w/ sugar. Saute over medium heat stirring occasionally for first 30 minutes. Reduce heat and cook till lightly browned (approx 20 minutes).
  • - Sprinkle flour over cooked onions
  • - Add broth, Dijon mustard, Nutmeg and Worcestershire sauce
  • - Simmer over medium/low heat for 15 minutes
  • - Add White Wine (or lemon juice)
  • - Ladle into oven-proof crock style bowls till approx 3/4 full
  • - Add croutons
  • - Lay out slice of Swiss Cheese across croutons
  • - Sprinkle on desired amount of Parmesan Cheese on top
  • - Place under HI broiler until cheese bubbly and browned ... DO NOT LEAVE UNATTENDED!
