Recipe calls for butter but down in the directions it says shortening.

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. applesauce
  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. cloves
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1/2 c. nuts

Directions
  1. Mix together shortening and brown sugar and egg.
  2. Stir in applesauce.
  3. Sift together flour, soda, salt, spices and stir in raisins and nuts.
  4. Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet.
  5. Cook at 350 about 12 minutes.
  6. Makes 3 dozen.
