Asparagus with Pale Ale

- 2 lb lean beef, diced shopping list
- 2 T flour shopping list
- 2 T butter shopping list
- 5 c beef stock shopping list
- 1 c pale ale shopping list
- 1 t salt shopping list
- 1 t dried marjoram shopping list
- 1/2 t dried mint shopping list
- 2 c chopped fresh spinach shopping list
- 1 lb asparagus, cleaned, snapped & chopped into 1 inch pieces shopping list
- 1 t sugar shopping list
- salt & pepper to taste shopping list
How to make it
- dredge beef in flour
- melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat
- brown beef on all sides
- add the stock, ale & salt
- bring to a boil
- reduce heat and simmer, covered, for 30 minutes
- add marjoram, mint & spinach
- bring to a boil again then reduce heat
- add asparagus and simmer until tender- about 4-5 minutes
- stir in sugar & season as needed
- serve hot
