Chicken And Dumplings Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 whole chicken cut up, skin on, bones in
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 1 chunky chopped onion
  • biscuit mix
  • flour
  • water

Directions
  1. place chicken in soup pot
  2. cover with water
  3. add salt and pepper
  4. add chunky chopped onion
  5. bring to a boil, cut heat and let simmer for approximately 1 hour
  6. prepare dumplings according to biscuit mix
  7. carefully place dumpling mix by tablespoons on chicken bones
  8. cover pot
  9. simmer for approximately 10 - 15 minutes
  10. remove dumplings from pot, place in bowl and cover to keep hot
  11. remove chicken from pot, place in bowl and cover to keep hot
  12. if there isn't gravy in pot (from dumplings cooking) mix flour and water
  13. add water to make enough gravy
  14. increase heat to bring broth to boil
  15. using whisk, whisk flour and water into chicken broth
  16. allow gravy to cook for 7 - 8 minutes, adding salt as needed for taste
  17. pour gravy over chicken
  18. serve and enjoy!
