Hiking!

Hello all! How are you guys doing??
Earlier this week, a few of my friends and i decided to go to one of the local state parks and do some hiking this weekend! I love hiking and just going out and hitting the trails, so I was really looking forward to it! We all arrived at the park around the same time and, after a few minutes of sitting around, finally decided to go hike! We walked a little bit to one of the trail crossings and hiked along that until we hit the main trail and followed it to the start of the trail. The trail was 1/4 mile and it was a nice relaxing hike. After that, we decided to go to the second trail and we kinda piddled along that one until we connected to the other trail that we had just come from. The state park we went to is kinda small and there are only really two main trails (they form a large O shape that connect to the beach). It was nice to just go on a small hike with a group of my friends. After we made our way back to the beach, we had a cookout and stuck around there for a few more hours. Most of us stuck our feet in the water and waded out a bit. It had been a while since i had just walked on the sandy beach and listened to the water. Eventually, we had to pack it up and go home.
After I got home, I realized that I had gotten a not-so-fun sunburn on my shoulders, part of my neck, and on my cheeks and forehead! Oh the consequences of not using any sunscreen! So here I sit, with my shoulders rubbed down with aloe and my feet still a little sore from stepping on so many rocks unseen in the water.
It has been quite a long, yet enjoyable, Saturday! I think I am going to go crawl into bed and read a bit before crashing.
Hope you had a great day!
    XOXO~ BG

Hi there! I love to go on hikes - both short and long ones! My daughter and I spend our summer days (she's a teacher and I am a secretary in a High School Guidance Office so have summers off) taking our dogs, 4 in all, on hikes. We love to head to the Cuyahoga Valley National Recreational Area/Park with a picnic lunch and spend the day exploring. We also spend 10 days each summer in Virginia where we hike in the Shenandoah National Park in the mornings, hit wineries in the afternoons, and cook awesome meals back at the camper for dinner. Hope your sunburn is feeling better, and your sore feet, too!

I love hiking too! When I lived on the west coast the mountains were my backyard, and I would go 3 -4 times a week. I would strap my baby girl to my back and away we went! Now I live a little too far away to do it everyday, and my baby girl is 8 yrs old, lol ;) I have to plan a weekend trip which I never have time for any more :(. I do a lot of trail walking with the dogs though, and along the river and through the small forest we have here. It's peaceful.
Yikes on your sunburn! I remember having a bad burn one camping trip, it didn't even feel that bad until the next day. My right ear and neck was so badly burnt that the skin on my ear turned black and peeled off...(.not 3rd degree burn or anything that gory, lol.) After that I have always put sunscreen on my ears if my hair is up! Hope your burn isn't that bad, take care!

Hi MA! I love hikes, no matter what distance! I love taking my dog too! Hiking is a great way to get in shape too, and I could use that! Your summers in Virginia sound so great! What a wonderful way to spend time with family! Take care!
Hey CM! Way to go! That's so cool that you took your baby girl with you! Now she can go with you when you guys can go and she is old enough to cherish your hikes! I remember some of the trips i went campin with my parents and I wouldn't change them for the world! :) Ooooh that sunburn sounds awful!! Mine isn't that bud, but it's still tender.
Hiya Don! So sorry that you can't go hiking! But nice walks are good for the soul! too! Your wife sounds like a great lady and your sweet dog sounds like a precious little thing! It gets way too hot here too! Don't do much in the summer, besides stay in and drink cold water! Take care Don! :)
