Produce Savers

I just found these new containers yesterday!
Rubbermaid just came out with this new slant on protecting produce in the fridge.
Each container has a grate in the bottom and the lid has holes on the sides for allowing breathing.
When not in use, the grate snaps onto the lid and the container rests in the lid. Very interesting.
I saw three sizes, from and onion sized on to one for lettuce.
I found these in the produce dept. at Wal-mart, with coupons for $1 of produce with the purchase of one container.

I got the mid-sized one. I think it will work well with some of the things I keep in the crisper. Now, if they would now make something long, like for carrots or celery.
I've had very good luck with keeping parsley/cilantro and lettuces for long periods of time, since I've started wrapping them in paper towels and knocking the air out of the bags.
I think the small saver will be good when I use part of a large onion and not the rest. It is about the right size for a decent sized onion.
I might even try putting my baby carrots in the mid-sized saver, as I always keep lots of carrots around, for gp snacks and for me too!
I printed off some extra coupons from the site, so I can buy more and not be restricted to one per day with produce purchase. With the $1 off, I think each are a good buy.
Oh, yes, these can also be used in the microwave. HUH?

Yes,they can be used in the microwave. Good idea for the baby carrots. Long ones would be great.
