Hockey Pucks

My disaster happened when I was starting out as a new wife. His mother gave me some recipes of the foods he liked so I could cook a few. One was for the homemade - from - scratch biscuts he loves.
I had watched her make them a few time so I thought no prob. I'd just whip up a batch. So I made the dough and popped them in the oven.
The recipe said 15 min cook time.Well, 15 min goes by I go to take them out, they look like light tan flat disks.hmm... I'm thinking, these are supposed to be fat and fluffy. So I'll pop em' back in the over for 5 min longer. Well not 2 min later I smell something burning. I run to the oven and the biscuts are burned.I checked the recipe and my ingredients and then call the M-I-L
to ask what I did wrong. She had me read her the recipe. It turned out that in her rush to get me the recipe she forgot to list the baking powder needed in the recipe to help the biscuts rise.
My husband came home to these burnt little disks. he called them organic hocky pucks and gave them to the kids down the street to play street hockey with. I still get picked on to this day, even though my cooking has improved quite a bit since those early days.
