A food fight in the desert

Last summer in the southwest, traveling by car with two children under 10, we stopped for lunch at a roadside rest that had two-sided shelters. We thought it would not only shield us from the hot sun of the desert, but also the constant wind. We set out our picnic, cold drinks, salads, and sandwiches, on the red checkered table cloth inside one of the shelters. Our grandson was talking about the morning adventures and not paying attention to the sandwich he was holding aloft. As he talked and waved the sandwich around, two hungry crows flew right into our shelter and tried to grab bites. Food-fight in the desert!

Sistema makes little two sided, leak-resistant, snap lidded, food-safe plastic boxes that are perfect for packing lunches, picnics, and snacks for traveling. These boxes are square for easy packing and open flat so that you can eat out of them.

Seems like I recall from your book, Meals in Motion, another "adventure" you had while traveling through the desert to your evening destination. Didn't you cook on the car's dashboard or something like that?

WOW! You read Meals In Motion, my e-book on kindle. Thanks. There are about 200 recipes for travelers using either a fondue pot or a panini grill. Hope you enjoy this new recipe for Bean Soup with Kale.
