Toffee Pecans

This was a recipe for toffee peanuts that I got from recipezaar that came from Taste of Home. I used the recipe to make pecans instead. Then I made jars of caramel hot fudge sauce, packaged those with bags of the toffee pecans for gifts of "instant turtle sundaes - just add ice cream." Big hit! But just make them for yourself or there may not be any left for gifts after "sampling."

Dungeness Chili Crab

Recently we did a dine about town and this recipe was demonstrated to us by Chef Christopher Greenwald of Bay Laurel Culinary in Petaluma CA. It is meant as a "first bite" or amuse. He used Dungeness crab because that's what is fresh and local in northern California, but I'm sure it would be as good with whatever is local in your area.
