Marcias Chicken Salad With Bacon

This is my dear friend Marcia's recipe & we have always loved it. The water chestnuts & grapes give it such a wonderful texture & the flavors work perfectly together -this just may become your new favorite too. The original recipe calls for mayo, but we heard that if you use hidden valley ranch dressing it cuts out some of the fat. Not sure how true it is, but both mayo & ranch taste great in this salad.

Corn Bread Muffins -my Take

I combined a few different corn bread recipes from this site & others and ended up with this. My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed them so I figured I'd post -for future reference mainly. These are NON SWEET corn bread muffins -which is how my husband prefers them, but they do have a nice richness with the butter & sour cream. I did add 1 tsp of vanilla sugar, (sugar that's stored with a vanilla bean in it) because I was intrigued by the addition of vanilla like exhubby4sal's recipe had. The only problem is I don't think it made one bit of difference because they were not the least bit sweet -I may increase the amount later & if I like it I'll update the recipe.

Boil In Bag Omelet

Omelet's for a crowd -impossible you say? Well this is the easiest way to make a perfect omelet for each one of your guests made to their detailed specifications -you can even have them help by adding whatever they fancy to their baggie. My kitchen is pretty teeny so when I made these I made up a little check sheet showing all of the available ingredients. I passed these out & each guest checked off what they wanted and then me & a few helpers made an assembly line and created each baggie. **BUT be sure you write the name of each guest on their baggie -a sharpie works great These omelets are so nice & easy my husband & I have started making our own omelets this way -you only have to boil water & the cleanup is a dream -just throw away the baggie when your done.

Sculpt your own turkey from a few oreo's a bit of candy and some ready made frosting -a fun activity for kids of all ages and they look adorable too. Super activity that will help keep them busy while the turkey's cooking. Again another recipe I found on Recipezaar, but I've seen it around the net on other sites too.

Caramel Pumpkin Cookies

These fall favorites will get gobbled up -even by those non pumpkin fans. It's a soft pumpkin cookie that resembles a muffin top. It gets crowned with a yummy caramel frosting that drys to form a nice crust yet stays creamy on the inside. So if you plan on decorating with sprinkles do so as soon as you can because the icing does start to set quickly. They get rave reviews even from my mother who shuns anything pumpkin.

Harvest Pumpkin Apple Bread

This is my staple fall bread that I making at the beginning of the fall season. It's a wonderful recipe that makes 2 loaves so you get to share one with family or friends (OR FREEZE one-they freeze wonderfully). You can even make them in the small disposable pans and that way you get 5-6 mini loaves so you get to share them with many friends. But be sure to keep one for youself because they fill your house with a scrumptious fall smell that make the warm loaves hard to resist. It's a step up from normal pumpkin bread.
