Vegetable Goulash

This recipe came from an old cookbook called The (Almost) NoFat Holiday Cookbook Festive Vegetarian Recipes by Bryanna Clark Grogan. It is listed as an item on a menu for the Jewish New Year. It is actually really simple to prepare and tastes delicious. I don't like wine much, so I just used a red wine we had that I thought a little bitter, Navarro and it was good.

Autumn Vegetables With Balsamic Sauce

This salad can be a main dish or side dish. I cooked it as a side dish doubling the recipe, for a family holiday meal. I believe everyone liked it, and I know I especially loved it. But if you don't like brussels sprouts or root veggies, you won't like it. I didn't try it with the radicchio leaves. This recipe comes from Frances Price's Healthy Cooking for Two (Or Just You).

Mango Upside-down Cake

I grabbed this recipe from a cookbook called "Complete Book of Thai Cooking." I saw this recipe before purchasing the cookbook and confess it greatly influenced my decision to purchase the book. If you slice the mango right it looks really nice, doesn't take too long to make and my husband, two guests and I really really liked it. If you aren't sure about the ginger, go light on it because it has a real ginger flavor to it. Also I think while the flavor might resemble Thai a little, the fact that it is a cake doesn't.

Bruschetta

My family loves this, and I like making it as long as I have an available food processor. There are people in my family who hate almonds (not me) but honestly, they had no clue there were almonds in it. This comes from Better Homes and Gardens Low-Fat & Luscious Vegetarian (cookbook).

Little Finger Biscuits

This is very good, and definitely best fresh out of the oven. If you like biscuits and potatoes, you'll like these. Go light on the caraway seeds unless you want to choke on them. They look fancy, but aren't very hard to make. Great for using leftover mashed potatoes, say after thanksgiving, or whenever. This recipe came from The Complete Guide To Traditional Jewish Cooking.
