Malabar Mutton Biriyani

My friend’s mom makes the best Malabar Mutton Biriyani I know (Malabar is a region in Kerala, South India). Biriyani is one of the main dishes that define the taste of Malabar. Every year, we make a trip to Kerala to meet our folks, but we make sure that we hit her house during lunchtime atleast a couple of days :) . The last time I was in Kerala, she gave me tips on how to make it. Now, I am not exactly as good as she is, because they still use the traditional methods for cooking. They still use wood for fire and cook the food in the backyard. Not that it won’t turn out good if you use a stove or the modern cooking gadgets, but the taste you get from the old hand is hard to be recreated. So, if you have a friend in Kerala who can whip up a good biriyani, you should try it out sometime. I’m sure they would love making it for you.

If you want to try it out at home, here is a version of the recipe. Do try it out and I hope it turns out good. Also add your love to the recipe and you will find the recipe being changed into your own.
