Chicken In Shrimp Sauce

Wow I am lucky to be alive! I had some time today and noticed that they had a gun show in town. So I took my life into my hands and went to the Expo Center. There I was packed into the Expo Center with hundreds of wild eyed potential mass murderers that still cling to that out dated 2nd amendment, What were our founding fathers thinking? People were pawing over thousands of guns. As we all know guns kill people, so I consider myself very lucky that none of those evil guns jumped up off the tables and started mowing us down. So I am one of the luckiest people around! The only reason I bring this up is that I did not find anything that wanted to follow me home, so I stopped by the used book store to look at cookbooks and found a few of those. They are cheaper then guns and they don't make as much noise. I found an unusual one called Recipes on Parade put out in the mid 60s by the Officers Wives Clubs. Normaly I like to try a recipe before I post it, so after trying it I did make a couple of changes. It is delightful! Don't be put off by the port wine it is fantastic.

Ghallaba Finally

From my blog:

Ghallaba

First, cut up a large red onion into quarters. Separate sections, toss in 2tbsp olive oil, salt and pepper and spread in single layer on cookie sheet. Place in 425 degree oven for at least 30mins which should elapse why preparing the following. Next, put some rice (I did white basmati, will probably do brown next time) in the rice cooker. Now down to cooking.

Citrus Madeleines

From Cake Mix Cookies by Camilla Saulsberry - found my mom's old madeleine pans and decided to give this recipe a whirl. I messed it up horribly, they were flat little tough nothings. I'm determined to give it one more try and I'll post a pic if I succeed.
