Cinnamon Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 c confectioners' sugar
  • 1/4 c baking cocoa
  • 1/2 c butter or margarine
  • FROSTING:
  • 1/2 c butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 tsps ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 c baking cocoa
  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 c sugar
  • 1 c finely sliced walnuts
  • 1 c water
  • 1 1/2 tsps ground cinnamon
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 c whipping cream
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 c vegetable oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions
  • Step #1 In a mixing bowl, mix the first four ingredients.
  • Step #2 In a saucepan, oil, mix water, butter & cocoa; bring to a boil over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #3 pour over dry ingredients; mix well.
  • Step #4 Add eggs, buttermilk, vanilla & baking soda; mix well.
  • Step #5 Pour into a greased & floured 15-in.
  • Step #6 x 10-in.
  • Step #7 x 1-in.
  • Step #8 baking pan.
  • Step #9 Bake at 375 degrees F for 15-20 mins or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean.
  • Step #10 Meanwhile, for frosting, cream, mix the butter, cocoa & cinnamon in a saucepan.
  • Step #11 Cook & stir over med-heat/flame until butter is melted & mixture is heated through.
  • Step #12 Remove from the heat; beat in sugar & vanilla until smooth.
  • Step #13 Stir in walnuts.
  • Step #14 Carefully spread over hot cake.
  • Step #15 Cool completely.
