Creamed Spinach With Onions And Bacon Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 4 slices bacon (optional)
  • 2 tbsps all-purpose flour
  • 2 (10 oz) packages frozen sliced spinach, thawed & squeezed dry
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 c milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 4 tbsps butter, divided

Directions
  • Step #1 Wrap bacon in a paper towel, & set on a plate.
  • Step #2 Cook the bacon in the microwave oven until crisp, about 1 min per slice.
  • Step #3 Melt 1 tbsp of butter in a large skillet over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #4 Add the onion; cook & stir until transparent.
  • Step #5 Add the spinach & cook, stirring frequently, until most of the liquid has evaporated.
  • Step #6 In a separate skillet, melt the remaining butter over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #7 Sprinkle top the flour over the butter & whisk in using a fork until smooth.
  • Step #8 Spice up with garlic powder, salt & pepper; cook & stir until thick.
  • Step #9 Gradually stir in the the milk so that no lumps form, & let simmer until thickened.
  • Step #10 Add the spinach mixture to the cream sauce, & mix until coated.
  • Step #11 Crumble bacon over the top & serve.
