Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 2 (1 oz) squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 1/3 c granulated sugar for decoration
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 1/2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c molasses
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 2/3 c white sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 c milk

Directions
  • Step #1 Combine butter or margarine, molasses, & unsweetened chocolate in the top of a double boiler.
  • Step #2 Heat until chocolate melts.
  • Step #3 Stir until smooth.
  • Step #4 Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, 2/3 c sugar, ginger, & salt.
  • Step #5 Stir in melted chocolate mixture & milk.
  • Step #6 Mix well.
  • Step #7 Chill until firm.
  • Step #8 Roll dough into 1 inch balls.
  • Step #9 Roll balls in sugar.
  • Step #10 Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Step #11 Bake at 375 degrees F ( 190 degrees C) for about 10 mins.
