Dilled Green Beans Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 quarts water
  • 2/3 c white sugar
  • 2 lbs fresh green beans, washed & trimmed
  • 2 c distilled white vinegar
  • 2 tsps dried dill weed
  • 1 tsp dill seed
  • 2 c water
  • 2 tsps mustard seed
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes

Directions
  • Step #1 Bring 2 quarts of water to boil.
  • Step #2 Add green beans & boil for 5 mins or until beans are just tender.
  • Step #3 Plunge the beans in cold water to set their color, drain well.
  • Step #4 In a large bowl mix salt, chiles, dill weed, mustard seed, dill seed & garlic.
  • Step #5 Mix.
  • Step #6 Add cooled beans to the bowl & stir.
  • Step #7 In a small saucepan bring 2 c water, vinegar, sugar & salt (to taste) to boil.
  • Step #8 Pour this mixture over the beans & spices.
  • Step #9 Mix well.
  • Step #10 Chill the beans in an airtight container at least overnight before eating.
  • Step #11 The beans are best if given a week to marinate put in the fridged before eating.
