1 (10 oz) can cola, beverage (Coca Cola is the best for this) .
1-2 tbsp fresh minced garlic (optional or to taste) .
black pepper .
1 large onion, sliced .
1 (4 lb) sirloin tip roast (you can use any kind of pot roast, but I most always use sirloin) .
1 (1 oz) package dry onion soup mix
Directions
Step #1 Set oven to 350 degrees (will reduce oven temperature later).
Step #2 Prepare a large roasting pan or dish.
Step #3 In a small bowl mix the brown gravy mix with water mixing into a smooth paste.
Step #4 Add in onion soup mix, mushroom soup, garlic (if using) cola beverage & Worcestershire sauce to the water/gravy mix; mix well to mix.
Step #5 Spice up with black pepper to taste.
Step #6 Layer the sliced onions & garlic in bottom of the pan, then sprinkle with black pepper.
Step #7 Place the roast on top of the onions & garlic.
Step #8 Pour the cola mixture over the roast.
Step #9 Cover up & cook at 350 degrees for about 1 hr.
Step #10 Uncover & place the carrots & potatoes around the roast.
Step #11 Reduce the oven temperature to 275 degrees, & continue cooking for another 2 hrs (covered).
Step #12 Remove from oven & turn the roast over, place back in oven for another 1-2 hrs or until roast is tender (could take longer than 2 hrs, as you are cooking at a low temperature).
Step #13 Let the roast stand for 20 mins before slicing.
