Cheese Scones Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsps unsalted butter .
  • 4 oz well aged cheddar cheese, coarsely grated .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 1 2/3 c self raising flour .
  • 1 egg .
  • 7 tbsps milk, for brushing top .
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

Directions
  • Step #1 Place rack in upper part of oven.
  • Step #2 preheat your trusty oven to 425.
  • Step #3 Butter adn flour baking tray.
  • Step #4 in a bowl sift togetherthe flour,salt & cayenne pepper.
  • Step #5 Using your fingers lighty rub in butter untill mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Step #6 stir in the cheese & make a well in teh center.
  • Step #7 Set aside.
  • Step #8 In a new small bowl whisk together the 7 tbsps of milk & egg.
  • Step #9 pour teh milk/egg mixture into the flour mixture well.
  • Step #10 Mix quick adn light to make a dough.
  • Step #11 if dough seems to dry add a few drops of milk as needed.
  • Step #12 on lighty floured board roll out dough to be about 1 inch thick cut into squares.
  • Step #13 Place on prepared pan.
  • Step #14 brush tops with the 2 table spoons of milk.
  • Step #15 bake in the upper part of the oven until golden adn crisp about 12-15 mins.
  • Step #16 Serve warm of at about room temp.
