Crunchy Butterscotch Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 c sifted all-purpose flour .
  • 1 large egg .
  • 1 tsp vanilla .
  • 1 c firmly packed brown sugar .
  • 1/2 tsp cream of tartar .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 3/4 c butter or regular stick margarine .
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda .
  • 1 c sliced walnuts

Directions
  • Step #1 Cream together butter & brown sugar until light & fluffy.
  • Step #2 Add egg & vanilla; beat well.
  • Step #3 Sift together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda & salt.
  • Step #4 Gradually add dry ingredients to creamed mixture; mix well.
  • Step #5 Stir in walnuts.
  • Step #6 Shape dough into a roll 1 1/2-inch in diameter.
  • Step #7 Wrap tightly in plastic wrap or waxed paper.
  • Step #8 Chill several hrs or overnight.
  • Step #9 Cut dough in 1/4 inch slices.
  • Step #10 Place about 1 1/2-inches apart on greased baking sheets.
  • Step #11 Bake in 400°F oven 10 mins or until golden brown.
  • Step #12 Remove from baking sheets.
  • Step #13 Cool on racks.
